Brave Mum Shares Images Of Her ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Son To Prove He’s A ‘Real Baby’ After ‘Doctors Called Him Medical Waste’

Mom Sharran Shuterland has decided to post heartbreaking photos of her baby, who died when she was just 14 weeks pregnant. She decided to share the images because, after suffering the ᴍɪsᴄᴀʀʀɪᴀɢᴇ, doctors referred to her son as “medical waste.”

When a mother loses her child at less than 20 weeks of gestation, it cannot legally be classified as a sᴛɪʟʟʙɪʀᴛʜ and is considered an ᴀʙᴏʀᴛɪᴏɴ. This means that he cannot be buried, and the little one is considered not to have officially existed. This situation revolted Sharran, especially after she saw how perfect her little Miran was.

Miran was born ᴅᴇᴀᴅ and weighing only 26 grams, but he had his hands, feet, and head formed. If he stayed in the hospital, the little one would be thrown out as “medical waste,” as he cannot be buried. To prevent this from happening, the couple took him home and buried him in their garden.

Before saying goodbye to her son, Sharran, who lives in Missouri in the United States, decided to take pictures of her little one to prove that he is not “medical waste.”

Sharran also spoke about her little one. “When I saw him, I couldn’t believe how perfect he was. He had little ears, a tongue, cheeks, lips, and little fingers; I couldn’t believe it. There are baby books, but he is so much more perfect than the books show. He just needed to keep developing,” Sharran said.

“This world has done a great job at dehumanizing unborn babies. The ᴀʙᴏʀᴛɪᴏɴ industry has done a great job at that, but it doesn’t just affect women who are getting ᴀʙᴏʀᴛɪᴏɴs. It affects women who have lost their babies too, because the world doesn’t view their children as babies.”

“So when a woman ʟᴏsᴇs her unborn child, she’s not able to grieve in the same way as a woman who gives birth to a baby that ᴅɪᴇs after being born. When a woman ʟᴏsᴇs her unborn baby, it’s almost like you don’t speak of it. A woman goes through it alone, and I believe that’s because other people don’t recognize it as a human, as a baby. This isn’t just about a woman grieving over her baby and not being able to give it life; it’s about not recognizing that this is a baby. It’s just a tiny baby,” the mother added.
