An American Baby Weighs 7.2 Kilos At Birth

He was born by ᴄᴇsᴀʀᴇᴀɴ sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ in a hospital in Indiana with measurements well above the usual: 7.2 kilos and 62 centimeters. In fact, he has doubled the average birth weight in the United States, which is 3.5 kilos. He was born at the size of a 6-month-old baby.

The protagonist of this story is named Waylon Cole Hallet. An American baby who was born in May surprised everyone with his size. “At first, we thought the scale was broken. We had to weigh him three times because we didn’t believe it,” his father said.

Despite the fact that the doctors had already warned the parents that the baby was larger than usual, since at 37 weeks it had already exceeded 4 kilos, they did not expect it to grow so much in the last stage of the pregnancy. At birth, at Schneck Hospital in Indiana, he weighed 7.2 kilos and measured 62 centimeters. Some measures with which he has doubled the average weight in the United States at birth, which is 3.5 kilos.

The delivery was by ᴄᴇsᴀʀᴇᴀɴ sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ, and although the doctors expected a weight above the average, they were shocked to verify its final size. In fact, he became the biggest baby born in the hospital. His mother, Whitney, suffered from ɢᴇsᴛᴀᴛɪᴏɴᴀʟ ᴅɪᴀʙᴇᴛᴇs, a condition that may be related to Waylon’s large size.

The baby had to stay for 7 weeks in the intensive care unit for breathing and feeding problems. Fortunately, he is already home with his parents and his three older sisters. “He sleeps much more than his sisters slept, but he is healthy. When he is awake, he is alert and smiles. He is a happy boy,” added his mother.
